Musings of Miss English The state of wanderlust

So I’m going to make tons of things and learn a bunch of new stuff. I will go where I didn’t think I would and see things come to fruition, when I thought it wasn’t important for me to know more than that with which I’m familiar. There is a world to explore and experience, and I can’t spend it waiting for anyone.

I just have to stick to that resolution.

// In the past seven days…//

I have seen the end of one earthly life. I have seen my friends celebrate the entry of their child into the world.

Celebrated the anniversary of my entry into the world.

Been part of a celebration of the union of a friend that I have known for over half of my life, and the man she is committing herself to for the rest of hers.

2012… you’re one heck of a year.

And what I have learned from this… or what has been reinforced, which I likely already knew… is that I must invest myself in what truly matters.

Beautiful.

// Optimism and realism can co-exist.//

Realism is recognizing how things are. Optimism then consists of the knowledge and hope that you can change or improve them. And being able to see that there is still some beauty in the world.

Don’t mistake any of my optimism for naïveté. I simply have to focus on what’s good and pure and lovely more so than what brings me down. And with that outlook… I have a chance to do something great for someone. :)
